Day +4 Foob-beat #100DaysDIEP

My foob* has a heartbeat. Like any transplant, one of the risks of a DIEP is that the donor tissue doesn’t ‘take’ and fails or dies (necrosis). The blood flow in the breast is initially checked every hour following surgery with a Doppler ultrasound. Although my hourly obs went through two nights, I wasn’t bothered by them at all. I welcomed the careful and professional attentiveness of the amazing nurses on my ward, and loved hearing the strong whow-whow-whow-whow of my baby boob.

*Boob made of fat tissue.
