REWRITTEN ME PODCAST
Listen to how I went from Unwritten to Rewritten Me.
In the pre-launch episode of Australia's first podcast about reconstruction after a mastectomy I tell my story of how I use my experience to help create a community that supports women who want to know more about reconstruction so that they can feel confident in their choices.

UNWRITTEN ME
This blog has moved on and evolved into something our community wanted. You can still read - and listen - to my experience as well as the experiences of others but in different ways.
Rewritten Me is Australia's podcast about reconstruction after a mastectomy. On the podcast I talk with leading surgeons, healthcare professionals and the wonderful women from our community who generously share their stories.
On my @luanlawriewoods Instagram page I write about life after reconstruction and host the Breast Recon 101 Live Q&As with surgeons and Live Chats with women who've had reconstruction.
So, how did I get here?
In November 2017 I was diagnosed with pleomorphic invasive lobular breast cancer (for those who do cancer-speak: grade 3, ER/PR+, HER2-, Ki67 23%). I underwent the cancer treatment trilogy: neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (FEC-D) followed by a skin-sparing mastectomy, topped off with 25 radiotherapy beams. I went into medical menopause and took the hormone therapy Tamoxifen for 2 years to stop any rogue cancer cells getting lit up by oestrogen.
In May 2019 I had a unilateral DIEP flap breast reconstruction which I micro-blogged #100DaysDIEP on Instagram. In October 2020 I had phase two DIEP, which was combined with an abdominal hysterectomy and ovary removal (#100DaysDIEP2). Now I'm in surgical menopause I take an aromatase inhibitor.
This blog is about trying to figure life out after a breast cancer diagnosis. All the unwritten things: foobs, flaps and the bits in between! I'd love to hear from you and answer any questions about breast cancer, DIEP and recovery.
